The Air Jordan 11 Space Jam will be released this Saturday. The pair, which was designed in commemoration of the 20th anniversary of Space Jam, was not without its controversy.
A couple of weeks ago, Foot Locker came out with a Space Jam-themed commercial starring NBA stars Blake Griffin and Jimmy Butler. Many saw this as Michael Jordan’s way of snubbing LeBron James, who was also tagged to star in Space Jam 2.

Anyone who has been a fan of Space Jam in the 1990s will probably go gaga over the chance to get these highly-anticipated Jordan retros. Unlike other Jordan retros, which are exhaustively hard to find, this new pair would be available in almost all Foot Locker stores. If the physical stores don’t work, there’s always the online stores to check into.
Is MJ insecure of LeBron’s status in the NBA?
The pair has been highly anticipated because of the earlier announcement of a Space Jam remake. The movie’s original director, Joe Pytka, doesn’t want a revival of the iconic movie
Both Griffin and Butler are Jordan Brand endorsers. So, it was practical for them to star in Foot Locker’s Space Jam-themed commercial. Still, it would have been more prudent for James to be seen in anything remotely related to Space Jam and Air Jordan 11 Space Jam.
The reason why James could not star in a commercial related to the Air Jordan 11 Space Jam is because he has his own line of shoes with Nike. However, a little pettiness is not lost on the NBA legend, according to an article in GQ. Jordan wanted Griffin to be involved in Space Jam 2. And James’ starring on it has always received an indifferent tone from the superstar.
