Hulk Hogan Might Return To Wrestlemania 33 After Sex Tape Fiasco

We’re just two weeks away from the Showcase of the Immortals. WrestleMania 33 is shaping up with an exciting, if not a little predictable, match card. Goldberg vs Lesnar is going to be a battle of behemoths. Meanwhile, Orton vs Wyatt is looking more personal than ever. But amidst all the news about who’s facing whom in the ring, rumors of a potential Hulk Hogan return have been floating incessantly.

The last time the Hulkster had a major appearance for the WWE, he was hosting WrestleMania 30. This was back in April 2014 in New Orleans, and featured plenty of great moments, such as Hogan sharing the ring with The Rock and Stone Cold Steve Austin. He also briefly appeared in WrestleMania 31 along with his nWo stable.

In 2015, Hogan had a falling out with WWE after some racist remarks he had made eight years prior resurfaced. The company terminated its contract with him (though Hogan’s camp says that he resigned). While Hogan apologized for his comments afterward, the damage was done. It seemed that one of the greatest wrestlers of all time wouldn’t step foot in a WWE ring again.

Rumors Of A Return

The hope that sparked the rumors of Hulkster’s return came from his daughter, Brooke Hogan, dropping hints to TMZ. “I’ll just say I know people have been calling for WrestleMania,” she had said.

Journalist Dave Meltzer, who has been covering WWE since the 1980’s, then said he would be back “sooner rather than later”. He made no secret via his Twitter account that he predicts Hogan would make a surprise appearance at the Granddaddy of Them All:

The comments seem to indicate that the relationship between Hulk Hogan and WWE is finally repairing itself. It’s pretty difficult to ignore a Hall of Famer, after all. And the company has shown, in recent years, a hearty tendency to bring back old favorites into the mix. Goldberg exploded back onto the scene and is holding the Universal Championship right now. Shawn Michaels showed up last week on the show, too.

And most interesting of all: He’s opening Hogan’s Beach Shop in Orlando, just days before WrestleMania 33 takes over Camping World Stadium. That’s only a couple of hours away.

At The Right Time

Unfortunately, Hulk Hogan himself took the time to address the rumors himself. His tweets don’t seem to leave room for wishful thinking:

To one fan who expressed hope to see him there, Hogan did leave the door open by just a crack:

Of course, if Hogan’s appearance were indeed a planned surprise, then denying an appearance would be pretty much par for the course, right?
