Tripped Media’s Guide to .XXX

Because most people aren’t aware of the trend of ‘online pornography’ we’re here to keep you up to date on yesterday’s revolutionary new release of the URL suffix .xxx. The intent behind the new .xxx domain is to create a home for all online porn sites. This is great news for people who get easily irritated by sidebars on reputable websites advertising HOT 18 year olds in YOUR neighborhood.  As the press release states,

the new .xxx domain functions as a responsible alternative for sites that offer adult entertainment content and related services.

Put together by the group ICANN, the theory behind the new .xxx is to prevent individuals from ‘stumbling into porn by accident,’ because nothing is more embarrassing than that time I accidentally stumbled onto slutsgettingfisted.com (seriously, I don’t know why this is on my screen).

Within the first few hours of the .xxx announcement, thousands of URLs were purchased immediately. My roommates were cycling through unpurchased site names, looking to pick up early unclaimed ones that were sure to become desired. Sadly fisting.xxx, pissing.xxx, and blackpussy.xxx have already been taken, but good news for those looking to purchase, myfirstdick.xxx, or myenviousitaliannipples.xxx.

The price of one of these domains can vary from as little as a couple hundred bucks for a normal URL, to considerably more depending on its ‘desirability.’ That being said, ICANN has taken several preventative measures to address the totally annoying act of ‘cybersquatting,’ when people snatch up thought-to-be-valuable domain names; the reason we’re not tripped.com.
